I'm the journalism chair at Saddleback College, where I also oversee the student-run newspaper, the Lariat, which is attached to one of four News Media Production classes offered each semester. If you're interested in joining, feel free to enroll next semester or talk to me about any form of involvement you may prefer.

Prior to joining the Saddleback community, I was an adjunct professor for seven years at Azusa Pacific University, Vanguard University, Mt. Sierra College, and Biola University where I taught journalism, media, literature, and communication studies courses. I've also been published in a few academic works on topics like Batman fandom, the ethics of special effects in cinema, and the politics of fan-make trailers. I'm also completing a doctoral degree in cultural studies at Claremont Graduate University, researching the media economics and cultural intrigue of contemporary superhero films.

Before I taught, I was a beat reporter for a local newspaper based in the West Hollywood area, the Beverly Press, where I also served as a page designer and film columnist. I still write film reviews for the paper on a weekly basis.
